Ostrich Egg

Pysanky is the name of this ancient Ukrainian folk art, and traditionally the
symbols have deep religious meanings believed to help rid the world of evil,
protect households and celebrate abundant harvests and prosperous years. In many
cultures around the world, the egg is recognized as a revered symbol of life.

Customarily, Ukrainians decorate and present the eggs as gifts during Lent and Easter.
